With Halloween around the corner, we’re looking to the quintessential celestial muses of ’90s fashion and film for inspiration.
1994
John Galliano Spring/Summer 1994, “Princess Lucretia”
With wolves howling in the background, Kate Moss, crinoline in hand, bolted down the runway for John Galliano, glancing over her shoulder as though fleeing into a forest. She embodied Princess Lucretia, who fled Russia for Scotland. The scene became iconic, helping resurrect Galliano’s career and cementing the look as a cultural milestone in fashion history.
A dream Halloween costume for lovers of romanticism and fashion lore.
At a masquerade ball in the Capulet mansion, Romeo locked eyes with Juliet, a vision in ethereal white and delicate feathered wings, and nothing was ever the same. Her minimilistic angelic look was peak 90's fashion and remains an endlessly inspiring Halloween reference.

Alexander McQueen presented his first haute couture collection for Givenchy, drawing on the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts to reimagine the legendary quest. A goddess floated down the runway in a bias-draped Grecian gown, her feathered headpiece sweeping gracefully around her neck. A dream Halloween costume for lovers of fashion and mythology.

In the late ’90s, we were introduced to a Cinderella story unlike any we’d seen before. Set in Renaissance-era France, Ever After introduced us to Danielle de Barbarac, and an age-old tale unfolded in an entirely new way.
Without a single magical element, a miracle ensued when Danielle, played by Drew Barrymore, stunned the royal court- and everyone watching the screen - with her presence and beauty. Shimmering makeup, gems lining her forehead, a pearlescent, iridescent gown, her Mother's bejeweled sabot slippers and enormous translucent wings, a gift from her fairy godfather, Leonardo da Vinci. “Just breathe.”
A holy-grail Halloween costume.
